CHEYROU DEAL TICKING OVER

Marseille manager Jose Anigo has confirmed the French Ligue 1 club are in talks to sign Liverpool midfielder Bruno Cheyrou on loan.

Cheyrou, 26, moved to Anfield from Lille in a £3.7m deal two years ago but has failed to establish himself. Anigo told the club's website talks were "well advanced" adding: "Even if nothing is done, it is in good way."

In readiness for the new season, Anigo has already brought in Benoit Pedretti, Habib Bamogo and Frederic Dehu.

Earlier in June, Cheyrou told French newspaper La Provence he was interested in a return to France. "Marseille are interested and I admit I am tempted by this challenge," he stated. "I am not succeeding in England and if Marseille can help me to play in the next World Cup, I am ready for that."
